Brian Wong, me, has been working in the Information Technology(IT) industry since 1997. Originally started out as a developer, I’ve spent most of my time in the past decade on relational database technologies and developing against them. Over the years, I’ve gotten myself certified in Oracle 8i and 10g(Oracle Certified Professional). On the open-source arena, I’ve grown to become familiar with Postgresql and mySQL.
Currently I work for Sony Pictures Imageworks, the maker of movies and animations including the Spiderman series, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Hancock, Aviator, Beowulf, and so on.
I play the role of a Senior Software Engineer(more specifically Senior Oracle Database Administrator). The company has about less than 20TB of data spread across more than 5 Oracle RAC Clusters in Los Angeles alone. Satellite offices worldwide, including Chennai(India), Albuquerque(New Mexico, USA), Bristol(United Kingdom), and Vancouver(Canada) are growing to need their Oracle databases soon. For years, I’ve been managing all the databases alone, including the Postgresql and mySQL databases, and advising developers on SQL tuning and development matters.
The purpose of this blog is to document my knowledge and experience in the area of relational database management and development. It is also good for enhancing the credibility of my résumé.
Let’s hope that I can put in enough time to make this a helpful resource for other people.
